Enlighten Video on YouTube

A very short video (15 min), depicting the work of Enlighten, was posted on youtube as part of a fundraising competition organised by the Flora Family Foundation in the US. If chosen as the winning entry, EET will raise substantial funding for some of its projects.

Lois will use the video for the presentation to be made in Kampala in June

Open Day 25th March 2010

The Enlighten Open Day, held on 25 March 2010, turned out to be a huge success. The afternoon kicked off with a very special ceremony where Henri Kuiper, the founder of EET, was honoured as the Life President of EET. Angela Heslop, Vice-Chairperson of EET, paid tribute to Henri who has, together with a committed team, established a credible and effective educational NGO in Hermanus. During the latter part of the afternoon, many visitors could enjoy what Enlighten has to offer. All venues were prepared and the EET facilitators were “on duty” to talk to the visitors. The afternoon was enjoyed and appreciated by all.

Entrepreneur Development Initiative

Because of the high levels of unemployment and poverty in the townships around Hermanus, this initiative has been started to promote a viable and vibrant entrepreneurial local community with a culture where people take responsibility to start their own businesses and create an income for themselves and others by identifying and utilizing business opportunities.
Enlighten Education Trust funded the first training course for 18 budding entrepreneurs which was held at the Enlighten Education Trust Centre on 23rd and 24th March.   The Entrepreneurial Business School (EBS) which is associated with the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB-ED) did the training.
