Tom O’Toole Road show
The EET Entrepreneurial Development project hosted Tom O’Toole on 15th October. Some 120 people attended and many stayed behind afterwards to talk to Tom. On the invitation of the Stellenbosch Business School, Tom addressed the Business Breakfast Club on the Friday morning.
ECD Conference
Gerda and Lois attended the African Conference on ECD, held at Spier.
Gill and a few of the trainees will be presented the Hermanus ECD project as a case study at the conference. It was great to share ideas and to hear what is being done in other African countries in respect of ECD. ECD training continues as does work to find funding to set up the new formal site in Kwasa Kwasa.
Magriet takes over from Loël
After serving as Enlighten’s fundraiser for the past three years, Loël Ferreira has retired. She has been a great help to the Trust and has brought a wealth of experience and expertise to this position, together with a vast network of funders known to her and to whom she is herself known. Several international funders have supported our work as a result of being introduced to Enlighten through Loël. We are extremely grateful for the time, energy, effort and passion which she has given to Enlighten and will miss her greatly. We wish her a very happy retirement with time to do all those things for which there has been no time before.
A farewell tea was held for Loël and for Nico Ferreira who has retired as an Enlighten trustee. Sad as it was to bid these two farewell, we were delighted to welcome Magriet Peter to Enlighten as our fulltime fundraiser/financial administrator. Magriet has been managing a similar Trust in the Eastern Cape and brings the same knowledge and passion to the affairs of Enlighten. We hope that she will enjoy being a member of the team and that she will find the work both rewarding and fulfilling..
