Enlighten Education Trust is a professional, committed and reliable education organization set up to assist the schools and communities in the "greater" Overstrand area in the Western Cape, South Africa to deal with the problems and challenges facing them with regards education.

All the projects which are implemented by the Trust complement and support each other. The interventions in schools are approached from management, curriculum, youth and social perspectives.

EQUIP and DIRECT deal with the whole school development and management according to the 9 focus areas stipulated by the Department of Education. Focus areas include financial management and administration, safety and security at schools, SGB Management, community and parent involvement, teaching and learning.

Curriculum Interventions support the teaching and learning focus areas of the whole school development and management.

 

Youth projects and Social projects bridge the gap between the school and communities and deal with issues that impact on the functioning of the school as a whole.

 

Enlighten Education Trust thus supports the 9 focus areas of school development in a holistic manner.

Our experience has been that the quality of education in general will not improve unless the problems in education are tackled from a variety of angles. For this reason Enlighten Education Trust intervenes in schools from management, curriculum, youth and social perspectives.

Enlighten Education Trust is unique in that, unlike other NGO's, we do not focus on one particular programme – we are not a "management and development" organization or a "science" organization. We do not deliver projects and programmes according to a "formula". We only respond to needs identified by schools themselves.  Interventions are guided by the circumstances of each individual school. After relationships of trust are built with schools and teachers, we work consistently and intensively with them until we are confident they can sustain the work without us.

Enlighten Education Trust has achieved enormous credibility with schools, the WCED and educational stakeholders as well as the community.
