Enlighten Education Trust and Elgin Learning Foundation, saw the need to further enhance music education by introducing classical music into the repertoire of the African marimba.

The African Marimba differs from the Western orchestral marimba in so far that it has only a F#, no other chromatic notes, much larger wooden staves, uneven playing board, heavier mallets and limited octaves range. The group members have the greatest respect for the composers and made the “African” adjustments with care, taste and musicality.

Members: Elizabeth Ryke, Chrisum van Nieting, Jacobus Wyngaard, Reagan Diederiks and Anna-Marié Kotzé
