Our baseline test results were presented to the management team and it was gratifying to note that our analysis of the results is very much in line with departmental perceptions. After assessing the November baseline test results in consultation with teachers at the schools it has been decided that our main focus in mathematics for 2009 will be at the grade 4 level. However, we will continue to provide support for the other grades as well.
The appointment of “Rocky de Villiers” as a facilitator for the Literacy/Numeracy computer laboratory has made it possible for learners and teachers to start using the Cami programmes that were purchased for this purpose. The term has kicked off with grade 4, grade 11 and grade 12 learners making use of these facilities.
The first of a series of workshops for mathematics teachers will be held on the 10th of March to address problems that were identified in the baseline tests.
